Autism assessment

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects social communication, behaviour, and sensory processing. Identifying autism early can lead to better support and interventions that enhance quality of life. Our comprehensive autism assessment provides clarity and guidance for individuals and families seeking answers.

We conduct NICE guidelines compliant autism assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Everyone is welcome!

How to identify autism

Autism presents differently in each individual, but common signs include:

  • Difficulty with social interactions and communication

  • Repetitive behaviours or restricted interests

  • Strong sensory sensitivities (e.g., sensitivity to lights, sounds, or textures)

  • Challenges in understanding social cues and emotions

  • Strong need for routine and predictability

If you or your child experience these signs, an assessment may provide helpful insights and access to support services.

The assessment process

What can you expect at InPsych Mind? Our autism assessment is a thorough, evidence-based process that includes:

  1. Initial Consultation – A discussion of curent concerns, medical and developmental history.

  2. Standardised Testing – Use of NICE guidelines compliant diagnostic tools, such as ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised).

  3. Behavioural Observations – Clinical assessment of social interactions, communication, and behaviours.

  4. Feedback Session – Collaborative exploration of results, diagnosis (if applicable), and next steps.

  5. Comprehensive Report – A detailed report outlining findings and individualised recommendations for support and interventions.

What happens after the assessment?

After the assessment, we provide:

  • Personalised recommendations for therapies, interventions, and support services

  • Assistance with educational or workplace accommodations

  • Guidance on next steps, including connecting with relevant professionals and support networks

Fees
